Last updated: February 15, 2026
Our Mission
ProBono.id is committed to providing equal access to justice, health, and mental health for all people in Indonesia. These guidelines ensure our platform remains a safe and respectful space.
Mutual Respect
Every individual — regardless of background, profession, socioeconomic status, or identity — deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
- Use polite language: Avoid profanity, insults, or demeaning words
- Respect time: Arrive on time for consultations or notify if unable to attend
- Listen with empathy: Allow others to finish speaking
Inclusivity and Anti-Discrimination
ProBono.id is a space for everyone. We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind.
- No discrimination based on: Race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, socioeconomic status, or other characteristics
- Use inclusive language: Avoid assumptions or stereotypes about someone's background
- Accessibility: Respect others' accessibility needs (e.g., extra time, specific communication formats)
Confidentiality and Privacy
Trust is the foundation of professional relationships. Maintain the confidentiality of shared information.
- For volunteers: DO NOT share client case details outside the platform without explicit permission
- For help seekers: Do not share volunteers' personal information (phone numbers, addresses) without permission
- Protect data: Do not screenshot or record consultations without consent from all parties
Professionalism
While pro bono services are free, professional standards remain the same as paid practice.
- Volunteers: Provide quality, evidence-based advice consistent with professional codes of ethics
- Help seekers: Provide honest and complete information about your situation
- Organizations: Ensure events are well-organized and match their descriptions
Serious Violations
The following behaviors may result in immediate account termination without warning:
Harassment and Threats
- Sexual harassment: Inappropriate sexual comments, sexual requests, or unwanted attention
- Bullying: Intimidation, repeated insults, or demeaning behavior
- Threats: Threats of physical violence, legal action, or reputational harm
- Stalking: Repeated unwanted contact or tracking someone's location
Fraud and Abuse
- Fake identity: Impersonating a professional without valid credentials
- Fake credentials: Uploading fake or expired license/certificate documents
- Fictitious cases: Creating fake consultation requests to waste volunteers' time
Spam and Platform Abuse
- Spam: Sending repeated requests, promotional content, or mass messages
- Rating manipulation: Giving fake ratings or requesting positive ratings in exchange
- Data scraping: Automatically extracting user data for commercial purposes
Harmful Content
- Hate speech: Content promoting hatred toward specific groups
- Violence: Content depicting or encouraging violence
- Illegal: Requesting assistance with illegal activities (e.g., tax evasion, fraud)
What to Do
- Provide clear case description: The more detailed, the better volunteers can help
- Be open and honest: Don't hide important facts that may affect advice
- Respect volunteer time: Volunteers give their time for free — value their commitment
- Provide feedback: Ratings and reviews help other volunteers and improve the platform
- Follow professional advice: If volunteers recommend follow-up consultations or referrals, consider seriously
What Not to Do
- Don't use for emergencies: ProBono.id is not a 24/7 service — use emergency services
- Don't expect specific results: Consultations are educational, not guarantees of legal/medical outcomes
- Don't share sensitive info publicly: Use private messages for case details, not public comments
- Don't "shop around": Submitting the same case to many volunteers to get the answer you want
What to Do
- Keep credentials active: Ensure your licenses/certificates are not expired
- Set clear boundaries: Explain consultation scope (e.g., "This is not formal legal representation")
- Document pro bono hours: Record consultations accurately for your hour accumulation
- Refer when needed: If case is beyond your expertise, direct to other volunteers or external services
- Provide evidence-based advice: Use professional knowledge, not personal opinions
- Offer paid services transparently: You may offer your professional paid services to help seekers — be upfront about pricing and scope
What Not to Do
- Don't practice outside competence: Stay within your area of expertise and specialization
- Don't ignore ethics codes: Follow professional standards (Advocate Code of Ethics, Medical Code of Ethics, etc.)
- Don't give guarantees: Avoid promises like "You will definitely win" or "This is 100% curable"
What to Do
- Accurate event descriptions: Clearly explain services, location, and requirements
- Good coordination: Ensure volunteers and participants receive sufficient information
- Transparent reporting: Document number of participants and services provided
- Feedback for volunteers: Provide appreciation and constructive feedback
What Not to Do
- Don't exploit volunteers: Respect their time and contributions
- Don't use for commercial promotion: Events should focus on pro bono services, not product sales
- Don't discriminate participants: Events should be open to all who meet requirements
